Biddeford School Committee appoints new superintendent

Jeremy Ray, the director of operations at Westbrook Schools, will assume the superintendent role on July 1, 2012. His contract rate is set at $118,000 for three years.

“It is with great enthusiasm and joy that I stand here before you tonight as the appointed superintendent of the Biddeford School Department," Ray said. "I am honored and humbled by this appointment and look forward to serving the students, faculty and staff and community of Biddeford."

“I’m very excited and everybody else here is very excited to have you on board,” said School Committee Chair.

"I am lucky to be coming to a school department with such a supportive and committed staff, administration and community," Ray said. "Together we will be able to fulfill the mission of the school board, which is to provide an education to the students that prepares them for the future."

Ray will replace current superintendent Sarah-Jane Poli, who announced her retirement in January of this year.
