Pantry open before holiday

To the editor:

The Saco Food pantry will close 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23 and reopen 9 a.m. Jan. 4. We will be open 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 for all those clients who are working and usually take advantage of this extra service on the last Tuesday of the month. We started this when we found out some clients had to lose time at their jobs to make the pantry during a normal opening. From all the volunteers and clients, merry Christmas, happy New Year and a future peaceful one to all.

Make your vote count

To the editor:

It is time to change the way we elect our leaders. Maine needs ranked choice voting – a fair way to elect leaders who represent a majority of voters. A number of Maine governors, for example, have been elected with less than 50 percent of the votes – some with less than 40 percent. This is not fair representation. I want my vote to count. With ranked choice voting I don’t have to decide between my best candidate and the one I think can win over my least favorite. I simply vote for my first choice and know that if there is no majority winner, then my second choice candidate gets my vote. My vote did not count in the last gubernatorial election. I believe that ranked choice voting will give Independent candidates a fair chance to run for office, will encourage all
