Greens to caucus

Biddeford Green Independent caucus, convened by Michael LaClair, will be held at Biddeford City Hall Council Chambers at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, to conduct presidential preference votes, elect local leaders and organize for a Green future. Presidential candidate Sedinam Kinamo Christin Moyowasifza-Curry, who is seeking nomination Green Party of the United States, will speak at the caucus.

LaClair hopes the caucus will form an official Biddeford Green Independent Committee that will be able to get involved in local issues and run candidates for local offices, such as city council and school board.

The Green Independent Party has run a number of candidates from Biddeford in past elections, including candidates for State House, state Senate and York County treasurer, but has been inactive in Biddeford in recent years.

“There seems to be a re-surging interest in the Green Independent Party locally,” said Alan Brown, a former chairman of the Biddeford Green Independent Committee. “I look forward to working with new members. This city needs fresh thinking and a new party to present an alternative view for how we can all be represented in government.”
