Saco strives for age-friendly community

One of the annual goals adopted by the Saco City Council was to seek an AARP grant to assist in development of a plan to make Saco an age-friendly community. The public is invited to a meeting regarding this topic to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 in Saco City Hall Council Chambers.

“Making our community livable for all ages and addressing issues of aging across the continuum will require collaboration between all sectors of our community,” said Saco Mayor Ron Michaud. “In order for us to accomplish this goal, we need to join forces to identify the resources already in place, identify unmet needs and plan the programming and infrastructure necessary to make Saco ‘A Community for a Lifetime.’”

The city will recruit volunteers and invites those interested to attend the June 15 session, where participants will hear from an expert that has completed the process of making their community age-friendly.
