Elite baseball and softball training offered in Saco

OA Centers for Orthopaedics offers two youth baseball and softball training programs this fall at its center, 15 Lund Road in Saco. The elite baseball and softball training programs’ core structure is based around elbow and shoulder injury prevention. The tutorials offer advanced training methods to build a stronger body and improve overall athleticism for both pitchers and position players, as well as speed training techniques to enhance acceleration and power on the base paths. The program uses a biomechanical video analysis of throwing techniques to build a healthy and efficient arm.

The program offers 90-minute sessions and is designed for athletes 13 years old or older; the junior elite baseball and softball training sessions are 60 minutes each and are for athletes 12 and younger. Each session consists of a baseball/softball warm-up and strength program, progressive long-toss program and throwing drills. The techniques and mechanics studied in each program are similar, but the junior program is sculpted to the development of younger bodies.

Adam Tielinen leads the elite baseball and softball training programs. Tielinen is a certified strength and conditioning coach, specializing in training the overhead athlete, utilizing proven methods to improve the athlete’s rotator cuff health, mobility, velocity, strength and speed.

The elite program begins Nov. 7 and is offered 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The junior elite program begins Nov. 8 and offers three 60-minute session start times on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
