In Biddeford lawsuits, state law claims against officers remain

BIDDEFORD – In its Sept. 15 issue, the Courier reported that the lawsuits brought by Matt Lauzon and Lawrence Ouellette had dismissed the federal claims against the respective officers in their individual capacity. According to attorney Walter McKee, who represents the two plaintiffs, the dismissal did not include two other claims against the officers in their individual capacity that were based on state law. The state law claims, as distinct from the federal laws claims, have not been dismissed because of the statute of limitation and are still pending. Accordingly, the officers themselves may face civil liability for alleged sexual assault.
