Saco race to be recognized

The Great Pumpkin 10K in Saco has been selected as one of two races that will be recognized by the Maine Running Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to running in Maine.

The Great Pumpkin 10K and Pat’s Pizza Clam Festival Classic five-miler will be honored at the hall of fame’s annual banquet Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Governor Hill Mansion in Augusta. The races will be honored alongside individual hall of fame inductees Larry Allen, Robert Ashby, Phil Pierce, Steve Podgajny, Gretchen Read, Bill Reilly and Michael Westphal. The Governor Hill Mansion event facility is located at 136 State St. in Augusta. A social hour and cash bar begins at noon, followed by a luncheon buffet and ceremonies.
