Two longtime Biddeford residents to be honored

The Biddeford Education Foundation will be the beneficiary of the first Pillars of Pride event to honor two community partners and longtime contributors to learning, Roland Eon and Jim Godbout. The dinner and silent auction will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the University of New England.

Eon, a 1970 Biddeford alum, has worked his way up the ranks at P&C Insurance during the last 30 years and plans to retire early next year. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, Southern Maine Health Care, Hospice of Southern Maine, MaineHeatlh, Sweetser and Biddeford Saco Rotary Club. He has offered financial support to the Biddeford School System for years, including athletics, arts, music and educational initiatives.

Godbout is a local entrepreneur who has served on numerous boards and committees, including, coaching a variety of sports for Biddeford students, Biddeford Athletic Association, Waterhouse Field Commission, Biddeford Saco Rotary Club and founder of the Red Ribbon Committee, YMCA, and chamber. He is instrumental in setting an example by teaching students who are pursuing trades at the Center of Technology.
