Free dinner offered on Thanksgiving

Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church will hold its 12th annual Thanksgiving Day dinner and delivery service and is ready to take reservations. The church plans to serve nearly 300 meals on Thanksgiving Day throughout the Saco Bay area. About half of those meals are likely to be delivered directly to people throughout the area by volunteers.

Volunteers are willing to give rides to guests or to deliver a meal to their home. No income requirements need to be met and both the meal and delivery service are completely free of charge.

“We have been making a lot of decisions lately about what ministry will look like in our future, but it will definitely involve feeding and supporting our community with work like this dinner,” said Pastor Michael Gray of Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church. “We are so thankful that we have been able to have this special connection to the community that we love. Food is something that is very important to us, so making sure that everyone has a hot meal on Thanksgiving is such a natural way for us to reach out.”

The meal will be served at the church 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church offers rides to and from the meal for people living in Old Orchard Beach, Saco or Biddeford. Meals can also be delivered to people who live in those municipalities. Signups for either of those services can be made by leaving a message on the church phone at 934-5553 or by sending an email to info@oobumchurch.org.
