Biddeford residents helped pass ordinance

To the editor:

During the recent election, the Yarmouth Sex Offender Residency Ordinance was approved by 75 percent of Yarmouth voters. The overwhelming support shown by our town in favor of this ordinance was due to the efforts of many people, including (and especially) Biddeford residents Matt Lauzon and Melissa Bednarowski. Matt and Melissa gave encouragement and advice from the moment this ordinance was brought to the Yarmouth Town Council through election night.

They both traveled to Yarmouth in July to speak during the ordinance hearing process. Only four days before election day, Matt and

Melissa took valuable time away from Matt’s campaign for Biddeford state representative to make a final presentation to Yarmouth voters. Their eloquence when speaking about the need for this ordinance was remarked upon by many residents. Matt and Melissa’s willingness to spend so much time and energy helping Yarmouth enact this important ordinance shows their true dedication to this issue and support of all Mainers.
