Downtown Holiday Festival, 5:30 p.m., City Square, Biddeford. Santa and Mrs. Clause will arrive by horse-drawn sleigh. Includes tree lighting, carols and gifts for kids. Take a scavenger hunt through downtown. Visit retail businesses that will be open until 7:30 p.m.

Artists in the Archives, 11 a.m., McArthur Public Library, Main Street, Biddeford. What happens when local history archives become more than just a repository of books, paper and photographs? In a unique experiment, a group of book artists were welcomed to explore archival materials at McArthur Library in search of inspiration and stories waiting to be (re)told. The artist books will remain at the library for display through December.
