Saco’s Festival of Trees winners are announced

Dyer Library and Saco Museum have announced the winners of the People’s Choice, Students’ Choice and Student Art Contest awards for “Reflections of Christmas: Past, Present, Future,” the 12th annual Festival of Trees. Festival of Trees is a community event to benefit the programs of the Dyer Library/Saco Museum and visitors were encouraged to vote for their favorite trees.

The top People’s Choice award went to Mischievous Christmas, which is decked out with elves busy decorating the tree. Mischievous Christmas was sponsored by Biddeford Savings Bank and decorated by Diane Lockhart. The Student’s Choice award went to Protect and Serve, decorated in blue and white, and ornamented with pictures of local law enforcement officials. Protect and Serve was sponsored and decorated by Sen. Justin Chenette. The Students’ Choice award was chosen by area students who came to the museum for guided tours. The following is the complete list of winners:

People’s Choice second runner up: Reflections, sponsored by Saco and Biddeford Savings Institution and P&C Insurance, Decorated by Sandy Riley.

People’s Choice third runner up: Glimmers of “Happy Days,” Sponsored and decorated by Ferry Landing Community.

Students’ Choice grand prize: Protect and Serve, sponsored and decorated by Sen. Justin Chenette.

Students’ Choice first runner up: Mischievous Christmas, sponsored by Biddeford Savings Bank, decorated by Diane Lockhart.

Students’ Choice second runner up: Glimmers of “Happy Days,” sponsored and decorated by Ferry Landing Community.

Students’ Choice third runner up: Seaside, sponsored by Saco-Biddeford Rotary Club, decorated by Denise Blanchard.

Student art contest grand prize winner: Lilli Metcalf grade five, Dayton Consolidated School.

Honorable mention: Brady Higgin, grade two, Fairfield School.

First-place winners, kindergarten through grade five:
