Flotilla installs new commanders

U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Saco Bay Flotilla met at The Kennebunk Inn Jan. 20 to install new officers for 2017. Amanda Ruel of Biddeford was sworn in as flotilla commander and Sean Skillings of Milton, New Hampshire was sworn in as vice flotilla commander.

The annual change of watch is the Coast Guard Auxiliary equivalent of the Coast Guard’s change of command, and is the official transfer of responsibility from old to new leadership. The ceremony is part of a formal dinner that centers on the swearing-in of the new flotilla commander along with the other flotilla officers and includes the presentation of awards recognizing exemplary service during the previous year. United States Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Commanding Officer Capt. Michael Baroody and Chief of Prevention Cmdr. John Humpage were also in attendance.
