Library supporters look forward to successful year

To the editor:

Friends of Libby Library began the New Year with a meeting on Jan. 3 with the following officers: co-chairmen Pam Emery and Kathi Asquith, treasurer Cathy Larkin and secretary Chris Carmon. Friends surprised the outgoing chairman, Doris Harris, with a thank you gift in appreciation of her hard work and commitment as chairman from 2011 to 2016.

Friends of Libby Library concluded the year 2016 with a roaring success and the thrill of its Book Shed are looking ahead with great enthusiasm to another good year. The energized members are looking forward to having a winter book sale held in the community room at the library in March and the opening of the Book Shed sometime in April, weather permitting.

As the outgoing chairman, I wish to thank all those who provided guidance and support in order to make the Book Shed a reality. It includes, but is not limited to, Friends of Libby Library, friends-at-large and a long time Friends member and volunteer (meeting the deadline for opening day) for without whom, the Book Shed would not be as it is today.

Friends of Libby Library meet the first Tuesday of the month at the library from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and we always welcome new members. We have brochures at the circulation desk for anyone interested in what we do to help the library support our community. As Marie Dressler (1869-1934), a famous comedic actress and opera singer, said, “Never one thing and seldom one person can make for a success. It takes a number of them merging into one perfect whole.” Amen.

Doris Harris, member Friends of Libby Library
