Students dance at state
Sen. Justin Chenette (D-Saco) welcomed students from Thornton Academy for Arts Advocacy Day at the StateHouse last week.
For advocacy day, arts students were recruited and matched to their state legislators to have an opportunity to talk one-on-one about why the arts mean so much to them. The event was organized by the Maine Alliance for Arts Education.
“These students represent the very best our state has to offer,” Chenette said. “We must continue to support an advancement of the arts as a core pillar of a student’s educational journey and as an outlet of creative expression.”
A few of Thornton Academy’s dance students, led by instructor Emma Campbell, performed a dance routine in the Hall of Flags as a sample of their program.
