In 1845, 19-year-old Israel Shevenell left Canada and walked nearly 200 miles to Biddeford to find work ass a brick maker. Community Conversation, for families with loved ones struggling with substance abuse, 6 to 8 p.m., McArthur Library, Main Street, Biddeford. Meeting will provide guidance on how to talk to a loved one who is struggling with substance abuse, training on overdose prevention and information and resources about community based prevention initiatives. First meeting in a series that will be led by Saco-Biddeford opiate outreach liaison Maegan Lambert-Irish. The youngest library patrons (up to 18 months) can enjoy baby bounces, songs and stories, with social and play time after. Program stimulates language development in increases baby’s capacity for learning.
