New member joins council

Mayor Alan Casavant nominated Victoria Foley as city councilor for Ward 5 to replace Bob Mills for the remainder of the current term, which will expire in December 2017. She was sworn in last week.

A Maine native, Foley was born in Portland and owns a home on Mason Street where she lives with her two rescue dogs, Parker and Beignet. Foley works full time as marketing manager at New England Cancer Specialists based in Scarborough. She is also a member of the Biddeford Downtown Development Commission. She has a professional background in media and journalism. Her past positions include marketing media for a running store, morning radio show host, farm hand, stage hand and a public radio reporter in the U.S. and Canada.

Foley is chairman the board of Greater Portland Health. She volunteers with Girls on the Run Maine and recently began volunteering with Heart of Biddeford. She was a past board member of the Maine Track Club and has volunteered on committees for the Maine Marathon and Beach to Beacon 10K.

“I feel very strongly about giving back to my community in whatever way I can and I’m thrilled to accept this appointment to City Council to represent Ward 5,” Foley said. “I’m honored to have an opportunity to serve this vibrant and beautiful city which has so much to offer already, as it grows toward even greater things.”
