Saco students receives scholarship from Etz Chaim

Congregation Etz Chaim in Biddeford announced that this year’s Shapiro Service Scholarship was presented to Ethan Levy on June 3. The Shapiro Service Scholarship is awarded to a student who completed Etz Chaim’s York County Hebrew School and continues to be a valuable member of the community. The scholarship is given to honor the late Arnold Shapiro’s long service to the synagogue and is generously funded by his family.

Levy has been active at Etz Chaim. He helped his family provide Sunday School to younger students, was an assistant teacher and teacher for five years. In addition, he has helped with Hebrew readings during the High Holiday season.

Levy plans to attend University of Maine in Orono and major in engineering. He is the son of Jeff and Adrianne Levy of Saco.
