Etz Chaim to host opera singer

An evening with Rebecca Comerford, an opera singer and co-founder of the Ojai Youth Opera Company, will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 6 at Congregation Etz Chaim, 36 Bacon St., Biddeford.

Comerford’s Ojai Youth Opera Company recently performed “Brundibar,” an opera written and performed by Jewish children at the Terezin Concentration Camp during World War II. Written in 1938 by Jewish Czech composer, Hans Krasa, “Brundibar” carries a message of hope and acceptance that resonates today. Comerford will provide a history of “Brundibar,” describe her experience bringing the opera to life as well as perform.

Parking is available in the lot next to the Biddeford Police Station. A suggested donation of $10 for the Ojai Youth Opera Company would be appreciated. For more information and to RSVP, visit etzchaimme.org.
