In their 2017 district debut, Biddeford defeated York 10- 0. Charlotte Donovan was impressive in the circle pitching a shutout and allowing just two hits while recording seven strikeouts.

Lexi Libby was efficient at third base, collecting everything that came her way and hurling with precision to her first basemen for several outs. Offensively, Baylor Wilkinson, Donovan and Hannah Gosselin recorded multiple hits. In game two, Biddeford faced Saco All Stars. Once again, Donovan’s stellar performance at the mound didn’t allow a single run. Biddeford’s defense had Donovan’s back by not committing a single error in the field on Saco’s four hits.

Laura Perreault was big at the plate going two for three and knocking in two runs batted in. The girls faced adversity in game three vs. Shaker Valley.

Starting shortstop, Kerri Scott, broke her arm in the top of the first inning. Shaker Valley took a first inning lead 1-0. It didn’t take long for Biddeford girls to answer by knocking in two runs of their own in the bottom of the first and never looking back, exploding to a 7-1 victory. Donovan was superb at the plate hitting three for four. Five different Biddeford girls recorded runs batted in over game three including Vanessa Hale and Savannah Petrin-Kendrick.

The championship game saw Biddeford facing the host team, South Berwick. Biddeford remained prolific at the plate scattering 11 hits, including two doubles by Donovan, and a double by Cheyenne Tardif. Perreault knocked in an impressive four runs batted in. In the championship game it was Biddeford’s defense that came up big. Second baseman, Hannah Gosselin, robbed two scorching line drive hits from South Berwick. Third baseman, Emilee Petrin-Kendrick, made some key defensive plays, involved in all three outs in the bottom of the third. In their four game district stance, Biddeford outscored their opponents 33-4. Pitching ace Donovan averaged nine strikeouts per game. Defensively, the Tigers committed only four errors the entire tournament. Biddeford, the reigning 2016 state champions, beat Scarborough for another state title and are now off to play in the regional tournament in Bristol, Connecticut.
