Coming together

Biddeford community members celebrated the third day of Finding The Pieces, Wednesday, Aug. 9, a two-week summer camp tailored to children with autism. It is a collaboration between the city, school department, Autism Society of Maine and University of New England and based on Camp Summit at the University of Maine at Farmington. From left, Julia Chasse, Camp Director Shannon O’Brien, Kylie Williams, Whit Jackson, Lauren Boislard, Meaghan Bessette, Kaiden Huot, Jenna Roberge, Cooper Mills, Alex Burdo, Lindsay Maffei, Ephram Oliver, Emily Wasina, Bryce Quattrone, Jessica Quattrone, Ward 4 Councilor Bob Quattrone and Caryn Husman. Councilors are all UNE occupational therapy students completing field work for their course study. The new program follows the Farmington model of a low camper to councilor ratio and meeting the individual needs of each child.
