Pastels show on view at museum

From Saturday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Nov. 4, the Brick Store Museum will host the Pastel Society of Maine’s, 18th International Juried Show: Pastels Only. The show was organized by exhibition co-chairmen Mary Beth Morrison, Terrilynn Dubrueil and Cheryl DiCara, with artist Kim Lordier as the juror of selection. The exhibition and sale will display works of pastel artists from the United States and Canada.

The show features more than 50 works by artists representing the United States. All the paintings are original soft pastels. During the public opening reception and awards ceremony on Oct. 7, the Pastel Society of Maine presented awards to the artists selected by Kim Lordier.

“We are honored to be the venue for this prestigious exhibition,” said Cynthia Walker, Brick Store Museum’s executive director. “Visitors are sure to be impressed with the wide-ranging styles and subjects – f rom still lifes and portraiture to landscapes in every season.” She said the show closely allies with the museum’s own artistic heritage, having been founded in 1936 by artist and patron of the arts, Edith C. Barry.

The 18th International Juried Show: Pastels Only is open to the public during regular museum hours.
