All-clergy service is Nov. 19

To the editor:

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude. The holiday is established as a time for all of us all to count or blessings, to accept our struggles and to give praise to the God who dwells in our hearts. One of the ways to truly discover the spiritual depth of the season is the turn to the church. Each of our churches hold individual services of worship to allow us to offer gratitude to God in our faith communities, and once a year the area clergy of Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach and Saco join together for a Union Service of Thanksgiving.

This year the service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at North Saco Congregational Church UCC at 126 Rocky Hill Road in Saco. Many different members of the clergy group will offer readings and prayers with the message for Thanksgiving presented by Catherine Anglea of Second Congregational Church in Biddeford.

I personally find the combined participation representing different views of faith to be an inspiration as we all come together as one to worship God and to express our thanksgiving for living. Everyone in the area is invited to attend in this worship experience as part of the celebration of this holiday time. The full benefit of our gratitude can be received as we join together this hour of prayer to our Thanksgiving Day celebrations.

Rev. Gerald Scribner, minister North Saco Congregational Church
