City of Saco, helping out

Age Friendly Saco, in collaboration with the city, will pick up the sand-salt mixture for any homebound resident older than 65 who needs it, and deliver it to their home. To have it delivered, contact Age Friendly Saco at 710-5029, ext. 815, and leave a message if no one is in the office. Be sure to leave a clear phone number for a volunteer to call to ensure that the correct delivery information is obtained. The Saco Public Works Department will provide a sand-salt mixture to residents in one 5-gallon pail at no cost. The Public Works Department is located at 351 North St. They are open 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, but even when gates are closed, one may walk through and access the mixture in the storage container just to the right, inside the gates. Age Friendly Saco’s volunteers seek to provide services that will empower residents to remain in their homes as they age. The Saco Sand-Buckets for Seniors is one example of how the city hopes to optimize the health and safety of residents.
