Restaurant Week kicks off

Biddeford + Saco Restaurant Week, March 11-17, has been marked by special events throughout the week that highlight establishments, while all locals and visitors are invited to submit an entry form at participating restaurants for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to the downtown restaurant of their choice.

The week commenced with the fourth annual Community Soup-er, March 11. Proceeds were to be donated to the Stone Soup Food Pantry.

Events during the week include:

Biddeford’s newest restaurant, Elda, will offer a prix fixe menu throughout the week. The three-course meal is $30, and there’s an option to also purchase wine pairings.

On Thursday, Local Libations Night will provide a chance to meet the brewers, distillers, sommeliers and martini-maker throughout the downtowns. No tickets necessary. A map that includes participating establishments is on the restaurant week website.

The second annual FYOOD iron chef-style cooking competition will take place Saturday, March 17 inside Biscuits & Company. Teams of chefs will compete in front of judges and an audience for a trophy, a basket of Mainegrown goods, and serious bragging rights. Tickets are available for chef teams, judges and audience members at www.fyoodkitchen.com/event.

More than a dozen establishments are offering specials throughout the week. Detailed information and schedules for these and all other events are available on the “Eat Biddeford + Saco” Facebook page and this website: bit.ly/ eatbiddsaco. Heart of Biddeford, Saco Main Street, and the Biddeford, Saco Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to coordinate the promotion. Restaurant week is made possible with support from Presenting Sponsor Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution.
