TA hosts art exhibit

The Thornton Academy Arts department will present its annual art exhibit with an opening reception 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 10. This year’s theme is “I Make Art.” Works of visual art from all mediums and all classes will be represented including photography, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting and ceramics with more than 90 students represented.

Senior visual artist Christian Guevara had this to say about his experience in the studios at Thornton:

“As soon as art touches your life, everything emerges, you feel more alive.”

Guevara is originally from Columbia and has been in the U.S. for eight years. He had originally given up making art to focus on learning English, but came back to making art this past year. He will attend Maine College of Art in the fall.

The exhibit runs through May 25, followed by the senior and AP art exhibit May 29 through June 2. Both exhibits are free.
