To the editor:

I think that we should use renewable energy instead of coal, gas and oil. Because if we use coal, gas and oil that will run out. Like it’s not like it’s infinite. But solar, wind and hydro will not run out, it’s not like the sun is just going to shut off and it’s not like it’s never going to rain again or the wind is going to stop.

If we could harness the sun for one hour that would be enough energy for the whole earth for one year.

Think about it: If we still use coal, oil and gas there will be none of those in approximately 200 years. For your great, great, grand children there is going to be no gas, oil or coal there will be none left. So we might as well start using renewable energy now so we have more later. People are being lazy, we’re all relying on coal, gas and oil.

If we start using renewable energy right now then we can get a head start on renewable energy. Then we can spend some of our money right now and later so we can have more.

Therefore I think that people should use renewable energy.

My name is Annabelle Doyon. I am 9 years old and I am from C.K. Burns School in Saco.

There is a problem in Africa. Can you try to help me get everyone to have access to clean drinking water? Whenever we go to the bathroom that water gets put in a river that they drink from and can get very, very sick.

For example, every 90 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease. Another reason is 780 million people live without clean drinking water and that means 780 million people in the world are not healthy and there are more people that are not healthy.

Another reason is 266 million women and girls spend everyday finding a place to go. The fourth reason is 1.8 million people die because they don’t have access to clean drinking water.

The next reason is they spend hours each day carrying heavy loads and cannot go to school and that means they can’t learn or get a job.

Can you please help me get everyone to have access to clean drinking water?

Annabelle Doyon
