Pastor is leaving OOB church, celebration to be held June 14

A celebration of ministry for the Rev. Michael Gray and his family will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Old Orchard Beach UMC, 6 Fountain Ave.

Gray announced last year that he would step down from active ministry as of June 30, after 13 years of service as a bi-vocational pastor in Old Orchard Beach. The event will give the community the chance to celebrate and offer thanks for the work that has been done over that time. The church is also hoping to share church happenings.

Gray is the longest serving pastor in the history of Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church. The church has served the Old Campground Neighborhood at the corner of Washington and Fountain avenues since it first opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1899.

Gray moved to Old Orchard Beach in 2005 to become the pastor of the Washington Avenue United Methodist Church after serving at Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church during winter. In the time that Gray has served, the church has undergone many changes including a name change to the Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church.
