Letter was discouraging

To the editor:

I was dismayed to see Mary Pelkey’s letter in last week’s edition of the Courier advocating for Saco residents to vote against the proposed school budget on June 12.

The budget increases go toward the creation of a preschool program, enhance the special education programs, expand STEM initiatives and more. Aren’t our children deserving of the finest education we can provide for them? Our highest priority should be giving the next generation every advantage and opportunity we can. We can’t cut corners on the next wave of American citizens.

John Shannon Saco
