La Kermesse to celebrate 36th year in Biddeford

The board of directors for LaKermesse Franco-Americaine Festival are preparing to provide the greater Biddeford community with its annual celebration at St. Louis Field in Biddeford. This year’s festival will run from Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24. LaKermesse has been a staple in the community for almost four decades. Annually held in late June, the festival is “one of the first of the season” in the state of Maine.

Festivities will kick off downtown Biddeford, at Mechanics Park on June 21 with the LaKermesse Block Party. Patrons can walk around the Water and Main Street area for fair style food, dancing with live entertainment and fireworks.

On June 22, the festival will feature a parade that runs from the downtown area of Jefferson and South streets and ends near St. Louis Field. At the conclusion of the parade people are invited to see what this year’s “Festival Field” has to offer. Acts will include a magician, who will perform at various times throughout the weekend, as well as roam the field performing between show times. Other acts include local musical groups such as The Classical Rock Orchestra, The Piano Men as well as musical acts from Quebec, Canada.

La Kermesse is going back to the button for entrance to the festival. Patrons that wish to come for just a day can purchase a ticket at the main gate.
