Biddeford native named grand marshal of parade

Paige Lessard, 18, of Biddeford will be the grand marshal of the 36th La Kermesse Parade on Friday, June 22.

Lessard is the 2018 Miss Holly Teen representing Crossroads, Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant, a Saco-Biddeford nonprofit organization.

Lessard, a 2018 Biddeford High School graduate, was part of the Interact Club, is a member the National Technical Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars. Graduating cum laude, Lessard was awarded the Future Leaders Award for medical profession and was invited to Harvard to receive the honor. She will attend the University of New England in the fall in the pre-med program and after medical school, she plans to become a radiologist. Lessard has been with Crossroads Youth Center for the past three years as a volunteer for the Unite Against Bullying ME, Crown CARES program.

She is the daughter of Michelle Lessard and Dean Lessard, and the granddaughter of Lucy and Donald Lessard, Rita Hall and Paul “Frenchy” Faucher, a 35-year volunteer of the La Kermesse Festival, all from Biddeford.

Lessard is preparing to compete in the 10th anniversary Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant, for the title of USA National Miss Teen Maine. The state pageant will be held at Biddeford Performing Arts Center on Aug. 19.
