Good people are out there

To the editor:

While taking a walk with the dogs recently, we had a small adventure. We saw a gentleman and his obviously well-behaved dog coming toward us. As our two dogs are not well-behaved, we decided to talk in the field parallel to the road.

This proved a good move for the dogs. However, when we tried to get back on the road, we were stymied by the slope of the embankment. As we climbed, my wife’s leg gave way and she sat down. At this point, a passing vehicle stopped and a woman with two lovely daughters came to our aid as did two of our wonderful neighbors. With their assistance we were soon back on the road and on our way.

All too often we bemoan the lack of friendly assistance in our much-too-hurried world. We just wanted to thank and praise these Good Samaritans.
