Biddeford AMVETS top in its class

Last month members of Biddeford’s AMVETS Post 1 went to state convention and came home with the coveted AMVETS Post of the Year award, which is based on a post’s accomplishments in several categories that include: Americanism, veterans service, community service, service for hospitalized and homeless veterans, Scouting, Toys for Tots, and Special


Post 1 took either first or second place in every category. First place is recognized with a plaque and second place is recognized with a certificate.

Post 1 competes in the large post category that includes includes Sanford, Portland, Yarmouth, New Gloucester and Jay.

Accepting the awards for AMVETS Post 1 was Post Commander Marshal Archer who, in a brief speech, thanked all Post 1 members, “because without the ladies and sons, the veterans wouldn’t be able to all that gets done. On behalf of the Post 1 family, I accept these awards.”
