Candidate for Senate champions kids, schools

To the editor:

I support sending Justin Chenette back to the state Senate this November.

I had the privilege of meeting Justin a few years ago at one of the elementary schools in Saco, where he actively volunteers. His enthusiasm and dedication to our youth is exemplary. Justin is focused on issues that students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members care about, including raising awareness on anti-bullying, childhood literacy and getting kids outside. He has had lunch with fifth graders where he discussed issues they have, has read to first, second, third, fourth, and fifth graders not just in Saco but also in Old Orchard Beach, and really listens to what students have to say.

At the high school level, he mentors students who are interested in state government through job shadowing at the statehouse and volunteerism in community projects. He even drives students up to the statehouse whose parents can’t take them. It’s really great to see a public servant really take his role seriously and take time to connect with and involve the next generation.

Justin actively supports students and teachers in the Legislature. In fact, he is the only candidate in this race to be endorsed by teachers through Maine Education Association. He continues to lead the charge to push for the state to fully fund our schools and invest in our kids.

Justin is a passionate human being who cares deeply for people and issues in our community. He is a legislator who works tirelessly for Maine people.

Justin is an honest, transparent leader and we are very fortunate to have him in Augusta on our behalf.
