Transit agencies launch online survey for public

To help local transit agencies improve service, transit riders or anyone interested in better transit can take an online survey to provide feedback on bus routing options. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SouthernMEBusOptionsSurvey and must be completed before Friday, Sept. 21.

Survey questions focus on improving service between Sanford-Springvale and Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach and also southern Cumberland County/Portland. It also includes questions on bus route options between Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach and Portland.

Survey results will help link urban transit services to those offered in rural areas. The challenge is being addressed by ShuttleBus-Zoom, which offers direct route service between Biddeford/Saco and Portland, and York County Community Action Corporation, which serves York County with a variety of transportation services. The two agencies have teamed up with the Maine Department of Transportation and Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission to evaluate bus route options to connect York County to Portland.

Among other services, Shuttlebus provides intercity fixed route service in Old Orchard Beach, Scarborough, South Portland and Portland, local fixed route bus service in Biddeford and Saco and Zoom Turnpike Express service from Biddeford to Portland. Go to http://www.shuttlebuszoom.com for fares and schedules.

York County Community Action Corporation offers a range of transportation options, available to the general public and equipped for people with disabilities. These include both public transportation and contracted/special service transport. Go to https://yccac.org/transportation/ for more information.
