Group thankful for space at SMHC, but is moving

To the editor:

My name is William Brady. I am currently the Sanford Multiple Sclerosis Self Help Support Group facilitator.

More than 12 years ago Goodall Hospital in Sanford (now Southern Maine Health Care) was kind enough to make a space and allow us to meet for support group and mutual support meetings.

The group would like to take this opportunity to thank Kim Lachance, the volunteer coordinator for SMHC, formerly Goodall Hospital.

For several years Kim has been kind, reliable, friendly and dependable assisting with our meeting dates. This conference room had become a safe place for people affected by MS to meet monthly.

We are very grateful for SMHC’s support through the years and we do understand with the merger of SMHC how things have changed, and the space has become more restricting than it had previously been.

Having recognized Kim Lachance and SMHC, we would now also like to thank Pastor Ryan of Curtis Lake Church in Sanford who so generously allowed us to be considered by the board of directors for a final approval for our group to start meeting there on Sept. 13 and every second Thursday thereafter through May 2019.

We whole heartedly appreciate this space to meet and thank all involved during this transition

If you or someone you know has MS, we’d love to meet you. The meetings free and friendly. Don’t do life with MS alone, because you don’t get MS until you get MS.
